What is Homebound Service?

If you are homebound, either temporarily or for a longer term, for reasons of health or mobility, the library can help keep you supplied with books to read or movies to watch. Our librarians are happy to select material on your behalf and to have it ready for pickup by a family member, friend or caregiver.

What we do...

  1. Select material for pickup by your designated carrier.
  2. Place the material on hold for you at Circulation for your carrier to pick up at their convenience. Materials will be kept on the Holds shelf for 3 days.

What you do…

  1. Make your initial arrangements for Homebound Service with Jackie Thompson.
  2. Complete a pdf Reading Preference form.
  3. Complete a pdfTemporary Transfer of Borrowing Privileges form, which assigns pickup permission for your library material to a family member, friend or caregiver.
  4. Call the Public Services staff whenever you wish to request material. Items will be available for your carrier to pick up on the Holds Shelf.

Adjusted Loan Periods

While you are using the Homebound Service, your card is classified as 'homebound', with extended loan periods possible on most items.

Material Delivery

You may designate more than one person to act as a carrier for your materials. The Library cannot be responsible for delivery or pickup of Homebound Service items.
